KNITTING GUILD Tire Mayoress (Mrs N. W. McGorlick) presided over a meeting of the Bluff Women’s Knitting Guild. Arrangements were completed for a bring-and-buy sale to be held in the Athenaeum Hall on Monday next at 2.30 p.m. It was decided to display some of the goods knitted by the members of the guild, and Mrs H. A. Ferguson was asked to arrange a musical programme. The proceeds of the sale are to be devoted to the purchase of wool for knitting into garments for local soldiers. GOLF ' Tomorrow at the Bluff golf links a mixed foursome stroke competition will be held. Players will draw for partners at the club house before the match. STEWART ISLAND CABLE Weather permitting the Tamatea will proceed to Foveaux Strait today to locate and repair the Stewart Island cable. The necessary gear was loaded yesterday. The weather at Bluff last night was cold and showery with the wind still south to south-east.
