Cousin Betty’s Letter
My dear Cousins, There are a number of things I want to mention this week, and they all seem to be connected with the clans. The Little Southlanders at Mataura, and another group at Brydone, are hoping to form clans in the near future, and I suggest that the first meetings in both districts should take place on the same day. A proposed date is Saturday, June 14. Will the cousins who are organizing the meetings let me know if this date is convenient, and I will come out fitting them both in the same afternoon. Little Southlanders wishing to join these new clans should get iA touch with Ruth Hargest, Forth street, Mataura, or Aileen Archibald, Brydone. Next week there will be another special Clan Page in the paper. This time the contributions will be supplied by the members of the Ao-tea-roa Clan (Gore). All entries for this page should be sent in by Monday, June 2. Because of the special page you will have a longer time in which to do the competitions, and you will notice that the closing date has been changed. The Golden Clan at McNab has become much smaller this year as some of the members have left the district, so Little Southlanders who live at or near McNab are invited to join it and help to earn marks for the Silver Cup. This is an energetic clan, and at the end of last year the members held a garden party and raised almost £5. If you would like to join this group of Little Southlanders write to Lois Cunningham, Conical Hills R.D., McNab. Any other cousins of mine may form clans in their districts, and if they let me know in time, I will pay them a visit and attend their first meeting. Your loving
