BADMINTON
BRITANNIA CLUB Forty-two members of the club had left to join the various services, said the annual report of the Britannia Badminton Club which was presented at the annual meeting on Tuesday night. Teams had been entered by the club in the three grades conducted by the Southland Badminton Association and Britannia teams had won the A grade and the C grade. The following officers were elected: President, Mr W. R. Harris; vice-presi-dents,' Messrs A. J. Deaker and J. S. Clarkson; committee, Mrs J. E. Salisbury, Misses M. Rodger, N. Rodger, M. Gardner, Messrs S. Mac Gibbon and C. Currie; club captain, Mr T. H. Thornbum; secretary, Miss R. Reid; treasurer, Mr R. Gimblett; auditor, Mr E. Rout; delegates to the Southland Badminton Association, Messrs Clarkson, Thornbum and Gimblett.
Instructions were given to the club delegates to recommend at the annual meeting that the three city clubs amalgamate under the association for the duration of the war, that the association control the hall and that all players be permitted to attend on any practice night.
