LOST CRUISER FIJI

FORMER NAVAL SECRETARY BELIEVED ON BOARD

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 29. Paymaster Commander E. L. Tottenham is believed by the Navy Office in Wellington to have been on board the British cruiser Fiji, which was lost in operations off Crete. He succeeded Paymaster Commander E. R. Durman as naval secretary in New Zealand in June 1935 and was relieved by Paymaster Captain N. T. Cooper in May 1939, when he left for England accompanied by his wife and daughter, who is now 16. He was made a member of the Naval Board. He joined the Navy in 1913 and served during the Great War with the Grand Fleet.
