Cold And Changeable
(Special) WELLINGTON, May 29. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Fresh to strong west to southwest winds; cold and changeable with periods of passing showers; seas very rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— The weather changeable with occasional passing showers in most districts; temperatures cold generally with some snow on the ranges of the South Island. Winds.—South-westerlies prevailing, fresh to strong generally and of gale force at times on the Otago coast. Seas. —New Zealand waters: Rough generally with a considerable southwesterly swell developing on the East Coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh south-westerly winds and rather rough seas in the northern portion and strong south-westerlies and rough seas in the southern portion. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and stormy, with intermittent showers of hail, snow and sleet.
At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and showery. The barometer reading was 29.62.
