TUATAPERE

HOME GUARD

Members of the Tuatapere sub-area of the Home Guard will hold a battalion parade at Orepuki on Saturday afternoon. Major-General R. Young, Dominion Commander and Captain W. Bell, area commander, will inspect the parade and give an address. The marshalling area for all units, except Te Tua, Orepuki and Bahia, will be Main street, Tuatapere,. between the Plunket rooms and Brown’s shop, and the time is 1.30 p.m. sharp. The Te Tua unit will join the convoy en route at Te Tua. In charge of each car will be an n.c.0., who will be responsible for the discipline during convoy and guardsmen will not debus on arrival until ordered. The distance between cars will be 40 yards and the pace 30 miles an hour. A full muster is requested and each unit will be responsible for arranging transport and petrol for its own members. The Western District Pipe Band is also to be in attendance. BASKETBALL Last week’s basketball matches resulted as follows:— A Grade.—Pukemaori 17, Papatotara 6; Tuatapere 31, Clifden 12. B Grade. —Tuatapere 14, Clifden 11; Orepuki 18, Pukemaori 10. The matches for this week are:—A Grade: Tuatapere v. Pukemaori, at Pukemaori; Papatotara v. Clifden, at Clifden. B Grade: Orepuki v. Western Star, at Orawia; Tuatapere v. Pukemaori, at Pukemaori; Clifden a bye.
