THEFTS BY POSTAL OFFICERS

ONE SENTENCED TO HARD LABOUR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 30. Thomas James Lanning, aged 32 a postman, who had pleaded guilty ’ to seven charges of stealing postal packets, was sentenced by the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, to 15 months’ imprisonment with hard labour.

John Melvin Smith, aged 18, was sent to the Borstal Institution for two years on five charges of theft as a postal officer.
