Cloudy With Fog
(Special) WELLINGTON, April 29. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Moderate variable winds, easterly directions predominating. The weather cloudy with morning fogs and coastal drizzle. Temperatures cool; seas slight to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast: The weather fair at first in western districts of the South Island; otherwise cloudy and at times misty with scattered drizzle over the northern half of the North Island and extending southward to the northern portions of the South Island. Temperatures cool to moderate. Winds: Easterly directions predominating. Fresh at times over the northern half of the North Island; otherwise moderate. , Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough at times north of East Cape; otherwise slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh north-easterly winds and rather rough seas in the northern portion; moderate fresh easterlies and moderate seas in the southern portion.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and overcast. Light rain fell in the morning, but the afternoon was fine. There was a light southeasterly breeze during the day. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and light rain was falling. The barometer reading was 30.24 in (falling).
