HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION
CAPTAIN HAMILTON TO STAND
Acceding to tire request of a representative deputation which waited on him yesterday, Captain R. J. Hamilton consented to accept nomination as the representative of Bluff borough on the Bluff Harbour Board.
Replying to the deputation, Captain Hamilton said that although he realized that nothing constructive on a large scale could be accomplished immediately because of world conditions, he visualized a wonderful future for Bluff as a port and Southland as a province. Captain Hamilton is a former harbourmaster to the board and is well known as the proprietor of the Stewart Island' ferry service. Licuteiiant J. R. Hanan may be nominated for re-election as a member of the Bluff Harbour Board, according to a statement by the chairman of the board, Mr W. J. A. McGregor, yesterday. Mr McGregor said that friends of Lieutenant Hanan had informed him that he had indicated a desire to continue to be a member of the board before going overseas and they would therefore nominate him for election. A cable has been sent to him for his assent.
