WOMAN WINS BRITISH EMPIRE MEDAL

(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, April 26.

The first woman to win the new British Empire Medal is 26-year-old Rosalie Gassman, of Hornsey, who is a secretary in the daytime and a parttime Auxiliary Fire Service telephonist at night. When a bomb struck the Auxiliary Fire Service station she carried on telephoning under the debris and also gave first-aid to those injured.
