The first women’s hockey matches of the season were played in •’. seven-a-side tournament, which was won by the Ex-High A team. The standard of play in the tournament was not of the best, there being little or no effective combination. Several good displays of individual play were seen, however, R. Watson and L. Following were the results of the various games:—-Ex-High A beat Technical 4-0; Collegiate beat Invercargill 2-0; Ex-High A beat Ex-High B 3-2; Invercargill beat Technical 5-0: Ex-High B beat Collegiate 3-2; Ex-High A lost to Invercargill 4-0; Collegiate beat Technical 4-0; Ex-High B beat Invercargill 2-1; Ex-High B beat Technical 4-1. Final: Ex-High A beat Ex-High B 2-1.

The teams in the final w;re:— EX-HIGH A.—H. Monk, L. Purvis, H. Eunson, F. and S. Monk, A. Anderson, J. McComish. EX-HIGH 3.—J. Wallace, L. Fraser, L. McDermott, B. Kimble, G. Henderson, M. Frederic. The game between the two teams was very ragged, there being little or no good hockey. The Ex-High A team had the better of the play, L. Purvis penetrating the opposition repeatedly, only to find no supporting players. For the Ex-High B team J. Wallace, L. Fraser and L. McDermott gave good individual performances. For the A team L.
