Invercargill Stock Exchange

Limited inquiry came for Government Stocks on the Invercargill Stock Exchange on Thursday. Buyers for War Loan were at £Bl/15/- and sellers at £B2. Banks were very weak. Very little interest was taken in frozen meat companies’ shares. Buyers for leading industrials were inactive, and mining companies’ shares were not sought after. Competition was not spirited, there being only a small attendance of buyers and farmers. Full-mouth ewes made from 11/6 to 13/3, good failing mouth ewes 8/- to 9/-, with poorer sorts down to 2/-. Several pens of twotooth ewes were of fairly good quality, medium bringing 24/- to 27/-, with others to 20/-. A good pen of ewe lambs made 23/- and rams brought from 10/- to 25/-. RIVERSDALE STOCK SALE There was a good demand at the Riversdale stock sale on Thursday, when some good quality sheep were offered. Two-tooth ewes were sought after and realized up to 33/9, this price being secured by J. E. Watson and Co., Ltd., for a line offered on acocunt of Mr W. J. Dickson, Wendon. A bigger line offered by the same agents on account of Mr W. Hargest, Mandeville, brought 28/2. Sound mouth ewes and full mouth sorts brought up to 15/7 and full and failing mouth sorts brought up to 12/-, other lines selling at 10/4 down to 4/6 for poorer quality. There was also a good yarding of lambs forward, ewe sorts bringing from 17/2 to 22/6 and wether lambs realizing up to 18/6. N.Z. PETROLEUM COMPANY (P.A.) GISBORNE, April 24. A bulletin issued by the New Zealand Petroleum Company reports that at the Morere bore drill pipe recovery operations are still in progress. At Midhurst the present depth of the well is 6405 feet with no change in formation.
