RESULT OF POPPY DAY APPEAL The record total of £632/2/- has been received as a result of the annual Poppy Day appeal on Thursday and the collections received from the morning and evening services yesterday. Further contributions have yet to come in. Thanks to the public for its wonderful response to the appeals, were expressed by the president of the Invercargill Returned Soldiers’ Association, Dr A. W. Owen-Johnston, at the function in the Civic Theatre last evening. Dr Owen-Johnston said it was evident that the public had remembered the noble sacrifice of the soldiers of 191418 by its excellent response to the appeals. The proceeds of the collections at the morning and evening services yesterday amounted to £44/0/7. This sum is included in the above total.
