DYER HOSPITAL BEQUESTS
To The Editor
Sir, —Permit me to state that the plans referred to in your columns of February 21 were prepared on behalf of the Dyer Trust and not, as may be inferred, by the Southland Hospital Board. The whole scheme of the projected improvements has been carefully thought out and compiled by the trustees under the will, and is to be 100 per cent. “Dyer and Wallace.” In accordance with the terms of the will 75 per cent, of the residue of the estate, a considerable amount, was bequeathed to the trustees for the Wallace Hospital Board and 25 per cent, for the Southland Hospital Board, and the trustees are to be complimented in frustrating any attempt to have these two gifts treated as part of the general funds of the present board. All credit to the late Mr Dyer for such generous gifts to Wallace Hospital and to the Dyer Trust in seeing that the bequests are expended in accordance with the scheme prepared by the trustees. —Yours, etc., GEO. O. CASSELS, Trustee, Estate F. J. Dyer. Riverton, February 22, 1940.
