OBITUARY
MR F. J. SAUNDERS
The death has occurred in Invercargill of Mr Frank James Saunders at the age of 69 years. Mr Saunders was born in 1871 at Sittingbourne, England, and at the age of two left Gravesend with his parents for New Zealand. After a voyage of six months the family landed at Bluff and went to live in Invercargill. Mr Saunders was educated at the Middle School. Later he went with his parents, the late Mr Frank Saunders and Mrs Ann Saunders, to South Hillend, where he began farming. Mr Saunders also farmed in the Heddon Bush, Kamahi and Spar Bush districts before settling in Waikiwi, where he lived until his death.
Mr Saunders is survived by his wife, four sons, one daughter, five brothers and three sisters. His brothers are Mr A. Saunders (Waikiwi), Mr Charles Saunders (Invercargill), Messrs Dave and John Saunders (Duneam) and Mr A. Saunders (Winton). His sisters are Mrs A. Pedlar, Mrs George Elliss (Invercargill), and Mrs R. Tippett (Centre Bush).
