BRITISH CONVOY ATTACKED

CLAIMS OF NAZIS

13 SHIPS REPORTED SUNK (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) LONDON, February 13. It is admitted in London that German surface ships attacked a convoy in the Atlantic, of which the Germans claim to have sunk 13. A Berlin spokesman said: “This was a large scale operation, involving surface ships, submarines, and planes. The vessels sunk included several big liners. The convoy was completely scattered.” A message from Montreal says that the Berlin radio claimed that German warships attacked a British convoy, west of Portugal, and sank 13 large armed merchantmen heavily laden with war supplies. No further news of this reported attack has been received from London.
