WOMEN’S DIVISION
DIPTON,— The monthly meeting of the Dipton branch was held in the library, Mrs J. S. McDonald presiding over a fair attendance. The meeting opened with the singing of the National Anthem. Arrangements were completed for the annual picnic to be held in the recreation ground. Members were asked to send in articles for the next consignment of soldiers’ parcels as soon as possible. It was announced that the singing class will resume on Tuesday night. The motto was: “To err is human; to forgive, divine” and the roll call was: What is most necessary for the smooth running of a home? Competitions resulted:—Best bloom, Mrs F. S. Sinclair 1, Mrs J. Hall 2, Mrs J. Craig 3. Jar jelly, Mrs F. S. Sinclair 1, Mrs D. R. Evans 2, Mrs R. Gerrard 3. Hand-worked cushion, Miss I. Craig 1, Mrs D. R. Evans 2. A social competition was won by Mrs A. Lindsay. Hostesses were Mesdames G. Buchanan, T. Nevin, G. Reece, R. McDonald, Woodcock. Members of the Farmers’ Union and Young Farmers’ Club were guests at supper.
