LIMITATION ON GIFTS FOR AMATEUR PLAYERS NEW YORK, February 9.

The United States Lawn Tennis Association has ruled that players connected with the sale of tennis goods are ineligible for amateur competition. The association has made it unlawful for an amateur to accept unlimited amounts of tennis equipment from a manufacturer —the executive committee will rule on the proper number of rackets and balls acceptable. Shoes, clothing and other equipment is ruled out completely. An amateur may not accept travelling or living expenses for more than eight invitation tournaments and four sectional championships, excluding his own, within one year. National championships are excepted. Hospitality accepted by an amateur in a private home will be regarded as expenses furnished.
