WILD CAREER’S SUCCESS

Peony Rose Narrowly Beaten ROYAL CHORUS SCORES FIRST WIN Outstanding performances by Wild Career and Nightcalm and excellent racing generally were the features of the second day of the Gore Racing Club's summer meeting yesterday. The sport was held in good racing conditions, but a high wind for most of the afternoon tended to mar the enjoyment of the spectators. The track was fast and several good finishes were seen. The financial returns again were highly satisfactory. The totalizator handled £11.207 for the day compared with £lO.BOl last year, an increase of £406. The total for the two days’ racing was £24,201/10/- compared with £23,589 last year, making the total increase £612/10/-. Tire gate takings yesterday showed a slight decrease on last year's figures. For the two days the total gate receipts were £5OB/10/- compared with £539/18/- last year, a decrease of £3l/8/-. The Judicial Committee met and decided to suspend P. J. Boyle, the rider of Araboa in the first race, for one month for interference with Atua Rere. In the President’s Handicap Sparkle fell at the seven furlongs post. K.
