AMERICAN PASSPORTS TO BE REPLACED

MEASURE TO MEET WORLD CONDITIONS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 10. The American consul at Wellington has received telegraphic advice from Washington that American passports now in use are to be replaced. This action has been taken, the consul is informed, as a measure to meet the special conditions now prevailing in the world. New green coloured passports will be issued in New Zealand by the American Consulate-General in Wellington and the American consulate in Auckland. At a date to be announced, probably in April, all foreign governments will be notified that the familiar red passports are no longer valid.
