SOUTHLAND RAILWAYS REVENUE
INCREASE OF ALMOST £BOOO The revenue collected in the Southland railways district during the four weeks ended February 1 shows an increase of nearly £BOOO compared with 1 the same period in 1940. Most of this I increase is accounted for by a rise of [ almost £6OOO in the revenue from goods traffic. Over 5000 more passengers were carried on the railways during this fourweekly period in comparison witli last year. There was also a rise of about 40,000 in the number of sheep conveyed.
