BOXING

ALABAMA KID’S LICENCE SUSPENDED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 8. A meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Council last night decided to suspend the licence of the Alabama Kid for a fortnight, in which he will be given an opportunity to state his case regarding the alleged breach of contract with the Manawatu Association over the contest with Maurice Strickland. The Manawatu Association was also allowed a fortnight to show cause why it should not be penalized for a breach of the rules in contracts entered into with Strickland and the Alabama Kid.
