Fair To Fine (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, February 9. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to fresh winds from a westerly- quarter. Weather fair to fine, except for some passing showers along the coast. Moderate temperatures. Seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:—■ Weather for the most part fair to fine, cloudy, however, in the far north and passing showers in western and southern areas of the South Island. Temperatures mild in the north and moderate in the south. General Situation.—A cyclonic depression passed over Southland last night and is moving away rapidly in a south-easterly direction. Pressure is relatively high over the remainder of the area. Winds.—Moderate to fresh southwesterly to westerly prevailing; seas rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmont and East Cape, but decreasing, otherwise slight or moderate, but a considerable southerly swell on the east coast; eastern Tasman Sea, fresh but decreasing winds from a westerly quarter and rather rough, but moderating seas. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was fine and mild and the sky was slightly overcast. The barometer readings for this morning, Saturday and Friday have been: This morning (rising) 30.20 in. Saturday 30.14 in. Friday 30.32 in.
