SURF LIFESAVING

COMPETITION AT ST. CLAIR

Two teams from the Oreti Surf Life Saving Cl ub travelled to Dunedin at the week-end to take part in a life saving competition at St. Clair. The Oreti club was represented by a four man senior team and a six man junior team but because of a boisterous wind and a strong rip, neither of the competitions was completed, the beitmen not being able to reach the buoy. In the senior competition three teams from St. Clair, one from St. Kilda, one from the Scottish Regiment at Forbury Park camp and the Oreti team took part. Two teams, Oreti and St. Clair, entered for the junior competition. The work of the beltmen and patients was particularly good, in spite of the trying conditions.
