Fair To Fine (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, February 7. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable breezes. The weather fair to fine and mild. Seas slight. Following is the Dominion forecast:— A scattered drizzle in the northern parts of the Auckland Peninsula, elsewhere fine, but with morning low clouds in eastern districts. Rising temperatures. Except in the Auckland province there are prospects of two days’ settled weather. General Situation.—An almost stationary anti-cyclone is centred over New Zealand while a tropical cyclone is moving slowly southwards off the New South Wales coast; winds, north-east-erlies prevailing, force strong at times in the far north and on parts of the east coast, otherwise light or moderate. Seas.—Rising north of East Cape, elsewhere moderate; eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh north-easterly winds, sea moderate, but a considerable swell developing. The weather in Invercai’gill yesterday was fine and calm, with milder temperatures. At one o’clock this morning the weather was fine and mild. The barometer readings for this morning, Friday and Thursday have been: This morning (rising) 30.14 in. Friday 30.32 in. Thursday 30.12 in.
