RAILWAYMEN PLEDGE CO-OPERATION
CONFIDENCE IN LABOUR GOVERNMENT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 6. The Minister of Railways (the Hon. R. Semple), made his first official contact with representatives of the Amalgamated Society of Railwaymen when he attended the biennial conference held in Wellington. He was cordially welcomed and assured of the maximum co-operation from members of the organization in a desire to run the railways with a maximum degree of efficiency. Following his address, the conference passed a resolution pledging complete co-operation with the Government, through the Minister, in the Government’s war effort and reaffirmed its complete confidence in the Labour Government and pledged its fullest possible co-operation with the Minister in his efforts to assist the workers in the railway service.
