EXTRA STORAGE SPACE AT MAKAREWA

FULL TEAM OF CARPENTERS ENGAGED AT WORKS Satisfactory progress is being made with the erection of the new storage accommodation building at the Makarewa freezing works. The new chamber, which will be used in the event of shipping difficulties, will accommodate about 180,000 carcasses. It is hoped to have the building erected in three months' time. There is now a full team of carpenters engaged at the works and no more will be required until the first stages of the work have been completed. Because of the shortage of men in Invercargill th* services of six Dunedin carpenters were secured. The Dunedin tradesmen began work as soon as the building of the accommodaton huts was completed. The local workmen are being transported to and from the works.
