RIFLE SHOOTING
INVERCARGILL CLUB The final of the Invercargill Defence Club’s service championship was fired on Saturday afternoon in fine weather, the conditions being seven shots and one sighter each at 300, 500 and 600 yards, with ordinary military sights. The winner was A. R. Wills, who had a lead of nine points in the first competition. G. Wilson, who was second, shot well for 97, a splendid score with open sights, and won the Reeves trophy. At 300 yards A. Blee was top with 30, J. Keelty and G. Wilson being next with 29 each. At 500 yards Wills made the possible 35; Wilson (34) and Clark (33) were next. At 600 yards Wilson again shot well for 34 and topped the list, thus winning the Boyce button with 68 at 500 and 600 yards. The leadinff scores were:—
The championship aggregates were: Wills 178, Wilson 174, Keelty 166, Clark 166, Blee 154.
