WOMAN DROPS DEAD IN CARRIAGE

(United Press Association) BLENHEIM. January 13. Mrs Janet Brown, the wife of Mr Richard Brown, of Blenheim, dropped dead in a railway carriage when leaving the Picton wharf at 4.30 on Saturday afternoon. Mrs Brown had lust disembarked from the Tamahine after its arrival from Wellington. The body was examined by a doctor who pronounced that death was due to heart failure. BOY KILLED IN TRAIN COLLISION (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 13. David Alexander Owens, aged 14, was killed on Saturday when a baker’s delivery van, driven by Albert Alexander Hastic, collided with the Outram train at Green Island. The engine struck the side of the van on which the deceased was sitting throwing him and the driver into a ditch. Owens suffered a fractured skull.
