STEWART ISLAND

FINE WEATHER BREAKS The exceptionally fine weather experienced at Stewart Island for the holiday period has now broken and heavy rain has fallen for the last three days. Sunday was exceptionally cold and heavy hail showers fell throughout the day. The Tamatea is still bringing a good number of passengers each trip.

The weather on Monday was squally, with hail showers at intervals. PERSONAL Mr W. Clark, secretary of the Seamen’s Union, Dunedin, is at present visiting the island on business about the fishing industry. Mr D. R. Fowler, postmaster at Halfmoon Bay Post Office, leaves shortly for Kaitangata. His place is being taken by Mr G. Davies, of Kaitangata. Mr J. Stuck, of Bluff, has been acting as assistant during the Christmas period.
