TODAY'S RECIPE
. TOMATO SOUP “ 2lb tomatoes or 1 pint tomato pulp,
1 quart stock, 2oz bacon, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 small onion, las butter, 1 tablespoon cornflour, 3 or 4 cloves, peppercorns, bayleaf, herbs, parsley. Slice onion and tomatoes and fry in I butter. Acid the stock, herbs, spices and I bacon. Simmer till vegetables are tenI der: put through the sieve and return i to the saucepan. Bring to the boil, mix the cornflour with stock or ivater, and stir into soup. Simmer for a few minutes, add sugar, salt and pepper, and serve with fried croutons.
