SHEEP DOG TRIALS TO BE HELD DECISION OF GORE CLUB A decision to conduct the club s annual trials as usual and to give all the profits to patriotic funds was made at the annual meeting of the Gore Sheep Dog Trials Club yesterday. It was stated that the trials had been successfully carried on during the first year of the war and it was considered that the club would receive the same support again this year. Mr D. R. Lawlor was chairman at the meeting and there was a good attendance of members. The chairman moved the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet and referred to the satisfactory credit balance of the club. He thanked all members for their support during the year.

GARDEN CLUB The monthly ineeting of the Gore Garden Club was held in the Methodist Hall, Mrs Hamilton presiding. An address on the growing of sweet peas was given by Mr G. Duncan, while Mr Badman read seasonal notes and Mrs Hamilton gave an interesting talk on carnations. During the evening arrangements were made for the Club’s annual picnic. PERSONAL Reference to the death of two members, Messrs James McDonald (Pukerau) and R. Smaill (Waikaka Valley), was made by the chairman (Mr D. R. Lawlor) at the annual meeting of the Gore Sheep Dog Trials Club yester-1 day. Mr Lawlor also referred to the death of Mrs T. McPhail, wife of the I secretary. A motion of sympathy with i the relations was carried.
