HOME GUARD COMMITTEE MEETING HELD At a meeting of the Bluff Home Guard Committee the appointment of Mr N. W. McGorlick as local commander was unanimously approved and confirmed. Messrs S. Waddell, C. Barry and H. W. Newman were appointed in charge of the three platoons already formed. A communication was received from the Area Commander, Captain W. Bell, that on receipt of duplicate enrolment forms, armlets would be issued to each member of the Guard. Mr McGorlick stated that the Guard was functioning satisfactorily and much keenness was being shown. He was sure added interest would be manifested when supplies of rifles were to hand. The Mayor, Mr J. Cameron, presided over the following members: The Hon. T. F. Doyle, M.L.C. (representative of the Bluff Borough Council), Messrs N. W. McGorlick, T. Finnerty, D. J. Robertson (representatives of the Returned Soldiers’ Association), T. West, T. Spencer (representatives of the Watersiders’ Union) and Captain R. J. Hamilton.
