DEBT ON GEORGETOWN HALL
BUILDING TO BE RETAINED FOR PUBLIC A decision to retain the hall and to pay off £5O, the interest owing to the Southland Amateur Sports Trust, was made at a meeting of the committee and guarantors of the Georgetown Hall Association on Monday night. Mr J. F. Campbell presided. Mr S. Anderson stated that a mistake had been made when the 2/6 subscription was done away with. Unless some system of subscription were introduced the hall could not go ahead. Mr A. W. Jones said the present problem was to raise £5O, the interest owing to the Sports Trust If the guarantors paid It the hall would bo lost to Georgetown.
After a call had been made for donations to pay off the amount owing to the Sports Trust, it was decided that the hall should be retained and the interest paid to the trust. It was also decided that members’ subscriptions should be fixed at 2/6 for men and 1/- for women, and that a meeting of members be called for the third Wednesday in February.
