GORE NEWS

PARADE AT R.S.A. ROOMS MILITARY RESERVE AND HOME GUARD There was an excellent turnout of members of Class II of the National Military Reserve and Home Guard members at a parade held at the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association club rooms. About 100 men, comprising between 50 and 60 members of the National Military Reserve and 30 and 40 members of the Home Guard assembled, and under Lieutenant-Colonel E. F. Selby, area commander, marched through the town behind the Gore Pipe Band. The men later returned to the club rooms where the training programme was outlined •by Lieutenant-Colonel Selby. Training would, he said, be made as interesting as possible. Regular parades would be held, and it would only require the co-operation of the men to make the scheme a success. Lieutenant-Colonel Selby made an appeal for more enrolments for the Guard and stated that every man who was not in the armed forces should be a member. It is the intention of those in charge to begin regular training parades next Thursday night Several more enrolments for the Home Guard have been received at the Returned Soldiers’ Association club rooms and the total is now 45.
