EDENDALE BOWLING CLUB OPENS SEASON

The official opening of the Edendale Bowling Club was well attended and attracted visitors from the Hokonui, Mataura, Wyndham and Woodlands clubs. The green was in good order for an opening day and promises to provide a fast surface as the season progresses. The visitors were welcomed by the president, Mr G. P. Dempster, following which Mrs Dempster rolled the first ball. A match, president v. vice-president, was played and resulted in a draw, 82

During the afternoon Mr D. Tait, vice-president of the Eastern SubCentre, took the opportunity of presenting the certificate won by Messrs G. Frame, T. Scoular, F. Gilligan and J. Blair (s) as winners of the Eastern rinks championship at Mataura last year, and congratulated them on their Success.

All present were entertained at afternoon tea, for which Mr L. Harley expressed the appreciation of the visitors.
