OBITUARY

LIEUT. J. B. STEPHENSON

(United Press Association)

AUCKLAND, October 17. The death has occurred in the Auckland Hosoitai of Lieutenant John Blythe Stephenson, R.N.V.R., of H.M.S. Achilles. Lieutenant Stephenson, who was 29 years of age and married, was an accountant by occupation and his home was in Wellington. He had been a keen member of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve for a number of years and was commissioned as a sub-lieutenant in 1935. After the outbreak of war he underwent courses of instruction and was posted to the Achilles in Juiv. The funeral will be conducted with full naval honours. A naval party, consisting of 25 officers and 180 ratings, .will take part.
