BRITISH FORCES IN WESTERN DESERT

(Received October 17, 7.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 16.

The New York Times’ correspondent with the British forces in the Western Desert says that if anyone is inclined to be pessimistic over the outcome of the AngloItalian war he should visit the British forces in the Western Desert and his pessimism would soon vanish.

First-class troops, including some of Britain’s crack regiments, New Zealanders, Australians, Rhodesians, Cypriots, Frenchmen and Czechs, all strong, sturdy and sunbrowned, are working in unity and harmony to defend the cause they believe to be right and just. Their clockwork organization and their equipment, which was recently reinforced by the latest models, is most impressive.
