RAILWAY ROWING CLUB

OPENING OF NEW SEASON The Invercargill Railway Rowing Club opened its new season on Saturday in fine, but somewhat windy, weather. There was a good attendance at the club’s shed on the Estuary and many members of the club and others took the opportunity of inspecting the premises and boats. The president of the club, Mr J. Hogan, wished the members a successful season. He considered it unfortunate, said Mr Hogan, that the day was a windy one. The members would have to drain hard and it was their duty to do so. Mr M. C. Officer, a past president of the club, wished tile members a successful season. He was glad to see a good attendance and hoped that there would be new members to fill the places of those who had gone on active service. The season was then declared opened and two crews took their craft to the water and rowed for a short distance upstream. v
