GERMAN PLANS FOR INVASION
(Received September 22, 7.30 p.m.)
NEW YORK, September 21
Mr William Philip Simms, foreign editor of Scripps Howards publications, has published a letter received from an unnamed Norwegian shipping magnate describing Germany’s recent plans to invade England in which he asserted that Hitler was reportedly willing to sacrifice 80 per cent, of the attacking force for the purpose of establishing a bridgehead. He said the Germans have requisitioned 10,000 small Norwegian vessels, the motors of which have been maintained in immaculate repair. They have installed wheels in the bows of the boats to enable them to be driven ashore at full speed each carrying 35 men. Each German will wear n British uniform. The Germans plan to approach the British Isles from all directions whenever the weather is foggy, concurrently with 11,000 aeroplanes. They have calculated that the invasion will be successful if 20 per cent, of the attackers landed although they anticipated that 50 per cent, would succeed.
