INVERCARGILL CAMP GROUND
POPULAR WITH MOTORISTS “The Invercargill camp ground continues to be popular and motorists have frequently expressed their appreciation of the setting and lay-out of the ground, and the service of the caretaker and the patrols,” states the annual report of the Automobile Association (Southland). “A great deal of work has been done. to develop the Te Anau camp and ‘ during the year £B3/6/8 was spent in subsidized labour, in erecting brush fences,. tree-planting and so on. The sum of £l9l/2/1 has been spent on this camp since it was established. On August 21 it was announced that an area of 52 acres at Lake Te Anau had been set apart as a reserve for camping purposes by a Bill in the House of Representatives, and control is to be vested in the association by an Order-in-Council ”
