NAZI RAIDERS SEEK NEW AVENUE OF APPROACH

SMALLER SCALE ATTACKS ON LONDON (United Press Association —Telegraph Copyright) (Received September 21,1 a.m.) LONDON, September 20. German raiders used a new avenue of approach in raids on London last night. They approached central London by way of a north-west suburb, some of the bombers flying high. Formations of Messerschmitts flew below the bombers in an attempt to draw the fire of the ground defences. These machines and the bombers were given a hot reception by anti-aircraft batteries and searchlights, winch were used more than they have been lately. The German attacks came after a period of less activity than usual. They were on a smaller scale and were less effective. They were directed mainly against London and its suburbs.
