FLOOD EMBANKMENT ON BAY ROAD

REPAIRS TO BE MADE A decision to assist with the raising of Bay road at a spot where it forms part of an embankment built some years ago to prevent the water from the Waikiwi river flowing towards the civic airport in times of flood was made by the Southland County Council yesterday. It was also decided to ask the Invercargill City Council to pay half the cost •of the work.

The engineer (Mr G. R. Milward) reported that the embankment, built many years ago by the City Council, had fallen into disrepair and the portion on the Bay toad had been worn down by consistent grading.
