BURNHAM OFFICERS PROMOTED
SEVERAL SOUTHLANDERS RAISED IN RANK New promotions and appointments of officers in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force have been notified by District Military Headquarters. With the exception of the 6th Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, and New Zealand Divisional Signals, all personnel concerned are in camp at Burnham. The details follow:— 2nd (N.Z.) Divisional Cavalry Regiment, reinforcements—Lieutenant R. R. Atkinson to be captain. 6th Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery—Captains C. L. Walter and J. M. Mitchell to be majors; Lieutenants E. T. Kensington and J. A. Bretherton to be captains. 2nd New Zealand Divisional Signals —Second-Lieutenant N. M. Laugesen to be lieutenant.
26th (Canterbury-Otago) BattalionCaptains F. J. Brook and N. A. Rattray to be majors; Lieutenant J. W. McKergow to be captain; Lieutenants W. C. T. Foley (N.Z.S.C.) and E. R. Chesterman to be temporary captains; Second-Lieutenants L. Roberts, C. L. Stubbs, F. O’Rorke, F. M. Olivier and A. W. Wesney to be lieutenants. Infantry Reinforcements 3rd Echelon —Second-Lieutenants A. C. Elworthy, R. S. Smith, P. E. Hazeldene, B. V. A. Jones, P. A. Barton and H. J. Hall to be lieutenants. 6th Field Ambulance—Second-Lieut-enant I. J. W’ilson to be lieutenant.
