BRILLIANT PLAY BY FERRIER CHICAGO TOURNAMENT (Received July 21, 6.30 p.m.) CHICAGO, July 20. The Australian golfer, Jim Ferrier, gained an early lead in the 5000 dollars open golf tournament held by the Tam-o’-Shanter Club, returning a score of 66—34 out and 32 in—which is six under par and equals the course record. With a score of 71—34 out and 37 back—in the second round, Ferrier now has a total of 139, which is three strokes behind the leader, Johnny Revolta, whose score is 136. Dick Metz tied with Ferrier. Ralph Guldahl is second with 137. Seventy-five players remain in for the third and fourth rounds to be played on Sunday. A mistake has been made in cabling either Ferrier’s scores or those of the other leaders. If Ferrier’s figures for the two rounds are correct his total is 137, not 139.
