CHARGE OF INTOXICATION WHILE DRIVING (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 17. Injury to a knee and abrasions were suffered by Stanley Nixon, aged 14 years, of Waimauku, when he was knocked off his horse while droving at Kumeu last evening. He was admitted to hospital. The horse was killed. In the Police Court today Norman Harrison, aged 33 years, a cartage contractor, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-truck, with“failing to stop and with failing to give all practical assistance to a person injured. “It is alleged that the accused collided with the boy on the horse,” said Senior-Sergeant Joyce. “The boy was on his correct side of the road and it is further alleged that the accused went over to his incorrect side. It is also alleged that he drove away at about 50 miles an hour.” The Magistrate, Mr J Morling, S.M., remanded the accused and fixed bail at £250.
