MR MULHOLLAND REELECTED
PRESIDENT OF FARMERS’ UNION ' ! (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 17. For the fifth time in succession Mr W. W. Mulholland (Darfield, Canterbury) was elected Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union at the annual conference today. He was unopposed. Messrs K. J. Holyoake (Motueka) and A. Briscoe Moore (Whangarei) were elected vice-presidents. LieUten-ant-Colonel F. Waite, D. 5.0., M.L.C., who is the Overseas Gifts Commissioner for the National Patriotic Fund Board, was elected overseas vice-pre-sident. Other officers elected were:—Elected member (past president), Mr W. J. Polson, M.P. (Stratford); Dominion treasurer, Mr W. Horrobin (Waikanae); Dominion auditor, Mr J. L. Arcus (Wellington). ; TRANSPORT COSTS ON LIME ' AND MANURES j WELLINGTON, July 17. As a means of increasing primary production the Government is to be asked to subsidize the transport costs on lime and manures over a certain mileage. A remit to this effect was carried at the Dominion conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union today. A remit that a subsidy be granted on fertilizers for the quantity used, in addition to the average during the past three years, was rejected.
