Fair To Fine (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, July 17. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office: Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine, with cool to moderate temperatures. Seas slight. Following is the Dominion forecast: Scattered showers in the eastern and northern districts of the North Island; elsewhere fair to cloudy. Morning fogs and scattered drizzle again likely, however, along the east coast. Sharp frosts tonight in the South Island, but little change in the day temperatures. General Situation: Pressure continues high to the south-east of the Dominion. A depression is located east of the Auckland Peninsula but it appears to be losing its intensity. Winds: Light to moderate easterly to north-easterly winds prevailing. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of East Cape; otherwise moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate and variable winds, with easterlies Predominating inshore. Seas rather rough in the northern portion; otherwise moderate. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and sunny after a frost of seven degrees. The weather at 1 o’clock this morning was clear and calm. There was a heavy frost.
