KILLING OF COURSING HARES

(United Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 17. Reporting to the Otago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the inspector alleged that at a recent meeting of the Dunedin Coursing Club all of the 15 hares used were killed, some being run twice, that the hares didn’t know where the escapes were, and that some dogs were on their game before it got away. "The hares didn’t have a chance,” he said. It was decided to write to the club requesting the use of trained hares which were accustomed to the escapes, and that none be coursed a second time.
