Heriot Block Subdivision A block of land in East Invercargill known as the Heriot block has been subdivided and sections of the land for building purposes are to be offered for sale by the Invercargill City Council. Provision is made in the subdivision for a future playground and it is' proposed to construct the streets in a design similar to Wellesley avenue. The sections for sale are situated north and north-east of Heriot street. Y.M.C.A. Losses According to information received in Wellington the Young Men’s Christian Association’s losses in Flanders and Northern France included 13 mobile canteens and a number of other vehicles. The association also lost 15 centres located in various buildings and large quantities of stores and equipment. A bomb hit one association building at Arras. About 100 workers returned to England from the evacuated territories and two are missing. Visit Appreciated Appreciation of the visit of Mr W. Grieve, chairman of the executive of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council, to the Burwood Hospital, Christchurch, was expressed yesterday by a Southland soldier who is recuperating in Invercargill after spending a period in the hospital. He said that all the Southlanders in the hospital were cheered considerably by visitors from Southland and the gifts of fruit and other eatables were much appreciated. He said he hoped that such visits would be continued while Southland soldiers were in hospital. Arrival Of Hockey Team The members of the Otago High School hockey team arrived in Invercargill by yesterday afternoon’s express. The team will play the annual match with the Southland Boys’ High School team at Queen’s Park this morning.
